From the Chief

Chief Harper

I want to welcome you to the web site of the Cherokee Springs Fire District located in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

This site contains valuable details about our department, community, along with Fire and Safety information. I hope you will take time to explore the information and learn more about our department.

The Strength of Cherokee Springs Fire Department is its loyal and staff of dedicated employees and board of elected commissioners.

The department serves a residential population of more than 12,000 citizens, and a daytime population estimated to be more than 25,000 persons.

Our department currently operates out of 3 fire stations. Headquarters Station, Sandy Ford Road Station and The Mountain View Station.

We provide services to a geographical area of over thirty-two square miles. This service area includes residential, commercial, rural areas, the Interstate 85 corridors and one of the Spartanburg Counties public water ways “Lake Blalock”.

Our department provides fire prevention/suppression, medical first response, heavy duty rescue and hazardous materials mitigation. In addition to providing fire protection, we provide fire and safety educational classes and CPR / First Aid classes to the community we serve.

Our department currently houses 4 fire engines, 102-foot ladder truck, heavy duty rescue/salvage unit, a medical first response vehicle/brush unit, a REHAB trailer and administrative vehicles.

The Department recently underwent an Insurance Service Inspection and reduced our ISO grade to a ISO 2, something we are very proud of.

The Cherokee Springs community is a wonderful place in which to live, and one that is rapidly growing with new Residential communities and the Flatwood Industrial Park project.  Our department maintains a strong partnership with our neighboring fire and emergency service departments, and we strive to increase community awareness and support in everything we do.

If you would like for us to be a part of your community events or meetings, please call and invite us, or if you simple need a place to hold a community meeting, we would appreciate any opportunity to open our fire house doors and would appreciate the opportunity to discuss our department along with fire and life safety information, or just simple be a part of your events.

I hope that our web site helps answer any question you may have about us.

Please feel free to contact us at any time.

Best wishes,

Trent A. Harper
